Hind Najim

Hind Najim is an Iraqi artist and translator whose work draws from the colors of the Mesopotamian plain. She loves the burnt sienna of ancient mud walls, the deep blue of the Tigris at dusk, the warm gold of afternoon light on stone.

هند نجيم فنانة ومترجمة عراقية تستلهم أعمالها من ألوان سهل بلاد الرافدين. تُحب الطين المحروق لجدران المباني القديمة، والأزرق العميق لدجلة عند الغسق، والذهبي الدافئ لضوء ما بعد الظهر على الحجر.

A self-taught artist, Hind has lived and worked in Tikrit, Saladin Governorate, where the landscape has shaped her vision. Her paintings are held in private collections across Iraq and Turkey. She works primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas, and also charcoal and ink.

فنانة ذاتية التعلم، عاشت وعملت في تكريت بمحافظة صلاح الدين، حيث شكّل المنظر الطبيعي رؤيتها. تُحفظ لوحاتها في مجموعات خاصة في العراق وتركيا. تعمل بشكل أساسي بالزيت والأكريليك على القماش، وكذلك بالفحم والحبر.

Beyond painting, Hind is a literary translator, working between Arabic and English, a practice she considers inseparable from her visual art. Both, she says, are acts of carrying meaning across a gap.

إلى جانب الرسم، تعمل هند كمترجمة أدبية بين العربية والإنجليزية، وهي ممارسة تعتبرها لا تنفصل عن فنها البصري. كلاهما، كما تقول، هو فعل حمل للمعنى عبر فجوة.
